So in this article I’ll share with you why doulas are great support for dads too! Nowadays, expectant fathers are no longer passive observers during birth. Many want to be informed, involved, and present throughout pregnancy, labor, and the first days of their baby’s life. Many fathers want to support their partners during labor, welcome their baby at birth, and help care for their newborn at home. A birth doula can help fathers feel more prepared, confident, and supported throughout that experience. Research shows that the presence of a doula can improve birth outcomes. Women who have doula support often experience shorter labors, fewer medical interventions, fewer cesareans, and greater satisfaction with their birth experience.
